Installation for Cinema platform WYSIWYG, during Todays Art in The Hague.

When I was invited to create an intervention for the cinema platform WYSIWYG, I created a response on multiple aspects of cinema. Throughout the building I placed sentences from different screenings as subtitles, that indirectly commented on the concept of watching movies. In front of the screen I created huge obstacles that pointed out the space or related to scenes from the film, which made visitors aware of their surroundings, to even feel like being part of a scene as well – following an unwritten script from an non-existent director.

As part of the installation was the creation and placing of the logo for the event together with a graphic designer. The barber across the street had a distinct style of colour and form, and by copying their style I tried to establish a bridge and communicate with them. In this project I wanted to ask how art objects relate to these different surroundings. What is their place inside an event – and can you see the logo as part of the art installation or as just another display window?
